Larry Wood

Larry has been teaching guitar sporadically for 25 years and loves to work with beginners.  He has a Master’s Degree in Church Music from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  From 1982-1996, he served as a Minister of Music and Youth at First Baptist Church in Perry.  As the Lord lead him, he served in many other churches in the Middle GA area, working with the youth, music and worship.  He is currently an outreach minister at Perry Volunteer Outreach.

As a member of Cross Point Baptist Church, Larry continues his music ministry by directing the Student Choir and Youth Praise Team.  His love for music began in the 70’s with the music of John Denver.  He loves all styles of music, but his passion is contemporary Christian music first and foremost for the message that it gives and then for its musical aspects.

As a guitar teacher, Larry strives to help each student achieve their music goals through the use of standard chords.  He uses a guitar method book for each student to provide very structured lessons, but encourages students to bring other songs of their interest to the lessons.
